The Jupiter Hotel in Portland, OR

jupiter.jpgDespite the recent hullabaloo in the scientific community over what actually defines a planet, Hotel Jupiter in Portland OR qualifies. The 80-room boutique hotel exerts a gravitational pull on Portland hipsters, in no small part due to the constellation of stores and venues on premises. The hotel's grounds house the Doug Fir Lounge, a beautifully designed bar/restaurant and concert venue; a modelling agency Q6, a design boutique called The Ivy Studio and a hair salon unfortunately called Wack. The hotel itself though is no slouch. With wifi, built-in speakers (to plug in your iPod, party people!),designer photomurals lining the walls, and doors made out of chalkboard (chalk provided) the rooms are quirky but not annoyingly so. Rooms go or $104 for a singe to $124 for a suite with kitchenette.
