BAPE KIDS

Wednesday, December 13, 2006

tokyo-bapekidsharajuku.jpgIt won't take much to convince lovers of A Bathing Ape to go check out the latest store to open in the brand's massive Tokyo empire -- that would be BAPE KIDS in Harajuku (Nara Bldg. 1F, 3-29-11 Jingumae). Again designed by Wonderwall's Masamichi Katayama (I'm starting to think I should become the man's official spokesperson, what with all the glowing mentions I've written here this past year), its purpose is surely to start the conversion process towards the Bape religion from an earlier age. You do have to wonder if the Bape general himself, Nigo, is truly invested in this latest expansion of the brand though. When asked on a recent TV interview -- on a morning show no less, to promote the new store -- whether he was planning on starting a family anytime soon, he replied, "Oh, no, I hate kids!"
