Team Party Crash: ProyectArte
ProyectArte, a New York-based nonprofit that supports arts-related projects in Argentina, threw a jovial benefit party at the Argentine Consulate on 56th Street Friday night. Knowing that all proceeds went to help underprivileged students realize their artistic potential made the copious amounts of Malbec and big piles of empanadas all the yummier. The organization, founded by brothers Fernando and Sebastian Cwilich in 2003, runs the ProyectArte School in the Palermo Viejo neighborhood of Buenos Aires, which provides professional-level fine arts instruction at no cost to economically disadvantaged students. And these kids have talent: ProyectArte student Guadalupe Labake's painting "Apio" (above) was recently purchased by Argentine ubermodel Ines Rivero, who kindly loaned the work for the event. There was also a tango exhibition with live music, a silent auction, and did I mention the Malbec? A permanent gallery and gift shop are slated to open in Buenos Aires in April 2006. More party photos after the jump.
Sebastian (left), full-time executive director, is a former math wizard for ATT Labs. Fernando, artistic director, writes for Page Six and is also a painter and publisher of nightlife guides.
This pair brought down the house with their torrid tango. You can just feel the ... how you say? ... ah yes, passion.
When Joe Toulon (foreground) is celebrating his birthday, everybody had better fall into line.
Michael Delacruz styles and profiles, but secretly hopes nobody outbids him on the 18-year-old Scotch.
