No Classical Music for You

Tuesday, January 10, 2006

01102006.11.jpgLaunching tonight at Hoxton's recently facelifted Shoreditch Town Hall is This Isn't for You, billed as "London's first classical music club night." An hour of live chamber music will accompany the work of "classical DJs," which I assume means actual classical music, not classic rock or old-skool hip hop. The idea is to put classical stuff on the same footing as other contemporary tunes, taking away the passive forced seating and making the scene more clubby. They got at least one thing right by adding alcohol, to be sure. Assuming that Amadeus does indeed rock a sufficient number of patrons, This Isn't for You will become a monthly event. The doors open at 8 p.m.
