A Brief Hummer in Vegas

Monday, April 10, 2006

04102006.7.jpgGeneral Motors opens its (gag) "autotainment" park today in Vegas. (Please note that "autotainment" would merely parse to "entertaining yourself," GM.) The Drive allows you to pilot various GM vehicles -- including the delicate flower known as the Humvee -- on either a paved loop or a laughably manicured gravel track with a few gentle hills and modest rocks. The jaunt costs $10 for two drives, and you must meet "driver conduct requirements," i.e. not be drunk as a pharaoh when you get behind the wheel. I'm also guessing they put somebody in the car with you, possibly even with Driver's Ed-style passenger-side braking, to insure you don't got tearing off into the actual desert or into the lobby of the nearby Hilton.
