Top Seven World Hotels

hotel_unique.jpgWhile we have understandable doubts when junketeering journalists, Internet surfers, and random whats-his-names slap together best-of lists, the rundown of the seven best world hotels in last Sunday's Observer intrigued us. For one, it starts with the Hotel Unique in Sao Paolo, which looks oddly like a smile cut out of reinforced cement (considering its amenities, the hotel will probably make you grin) and is known by locals as the "slice of watermelon." The Observer writes:

The roof terrace is the most fashionable space in the city. It has a restaurant serving modern Brazilian cuisine, an ultra-hip bar playing the latest ambient house music and a pool terrace decorated with flourishes of shocking pink.
The list also manages to fit in the Grand Hyatt in Shanghai, which, "against a skyline that looks like it's been designed by a hyperactive toddler... stands out as a monument to good taste;" and New York's Four Seasons, where, well, "Everything ... comes in epic proportions, beginning with the 33ft-high entrance hall with its French limestone pillars, marble floors and onyx ceiling." Onyx ceiling? Nice. Should do that in our apartment.
