Ski Dubai with the Post

120505.2.jpgA while ago in these pages, we reported on the opening of Ski Dubai, a (yup) indoor ski resort located smack in the middle of the giant Mall of the Emirates, itself located smack in the middle of everyone’s favorite vacation destination/desert emirate. The resort has now been open for a few months and has worked out most of their opening snags. Being that the 5.5-acre resort has five separate downhill ski runs, a not-so-small cross-country trail, a quarter-pipe for snowboarders, and a chairlift, all enclosed within a 25-story dome, yes, there were some opening difficulties. In a review of the Ski Dubai, the Washington Post investigated and found that the place actually offers some pretty good skiing. Moreover, the guests who were trying to ski for the first time only had good things to say to the Post. See? There’s nothing that mind-boggling amounts of filthy lucre and a desire to build the world’s premiere indoor ski resort can’t accomplish.
