Uber Ennui in Berlin Makes for Good Shopping

ueber.jpgThanks to William Thirteen at Metroblogging Berlin, who directed us to the Uber boutique in Berlin. Sayeth Herr Thirteen:

Owner Anja Kantowsky sells beautifully offbeat articles in her small shop at Auguststrasse 26a in the heart of the Mitte art district. Her stock varies as she curates her collection around a central theme - currently (until the end of November) the unifying principle is Melancholy. Inexpensive but lifelike plastic crows, jewel encrusted bandages (for failed suicides), bittersweet chocolates, Nick Cave albums, books instructing the perplexed on how to find joy in living, sterling silver pendants engraved with sorrowful poesie, and designer bath salts to revive the swooning aesthete are but a few of the items for sale in her exquisitely decorated boutique. You're sure to find the perfect christmas gift for that depressed 'friend who has everything'. In December the weather turns colder, Berlin grows darker, and Über's theme becomes "Heimat" (Home).
